For 2020, the third location that we are adding to the Clarksville Montgomery County African American Legacy Trail is the gravesite of Wilma Rudolph, Olympic Gold medalist and champion sprinter and hometown hero. Wilma Rudolph is buried at Edgefield Missionary Baptist Church. Many visitors to Clarksville journey to the gravesite to pay their respects to Wilma Rudolph. She was also a civil rights activist, a track coach, an athletic director, and more. Her tombstone is well marked and easy to find.

The address to Edgefield Missionary Baptist Church: 503 Thompkins Ln.
Clarksville, Tennessee 37043.
We will keep you up to date on when this location (as well as the two other new locations) will be officially listed on the Legacy Trail, both online and in the print brochure.
Currently, Wilma Rudolph is honored on the Legacy Trail with two other locations. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the statue of Wilma Rudolph located at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. Another location on the Legacy Trail is the Tennessee State Historical Marker for Wilma Rudolph located at the intersection of Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and Trenton Road. To see the current locations, visit the Montgomery County website here or pick up a brochure around town.
