Grateful for New Sponsors and 2020 Goals

We finished 2019 with two more sponsors for the Clarksville Montgomery County African-American Legacy Trail! Thank you to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Nu Kappa Omega Chapter, and to Wallace Redd for your thoughtfulness and generosity.

We are always grateful to our sponsors for keeping the trail alive. All of the donations go toward the cost of printing the brochures that are located around Clarksville/Montgomery County. Some locations where you can find the brochures are Burt-Cobb Recreation Center, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center, the Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center at APSU, HUDUBAM Books on Franklin St., Ft. Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center, and many more locations around town.

We have three goals for 2020. First, we are adding three locations to the online version of the trail on the Montgomery County website and working on adding those to the design of the brochure in the future. The three sites honor three important people: Pastor Jimmy Terry, CSM Sidney Brown, and Wilma Rudolph. You can read about two of the locations on the previous blog posts here, and Wilma Rudolph’s new location will be featured next week on the blog. The locations haven’t been added to the County map or the brochures yet, and we are working to gather all materials to have those locations and people added in the coming months.

Our second goal this year is to raise enough funds to move to the next stage in printing the brochure; printing 10,000+ brochures will give us enough to reach the third goal, and that is to make them available in the Tennessee State Welcome and Visitors Centers located along the interstates as you enter Tennessee. We will keep you up to date on our progress toward that goal and post more information about it soon.
